Half the families we meet here are visiting people who live in Paphos, so we've watched a lot of kids do this town over the years — the ones who last, and the ones who melt down by 11am. This route reflects what actually holds up, not the version built for a brochure.
Locals with young kids tend to skip the archaeological park entirely in summer and save it for a cooler visit — the water park and the zoo hold attention far better in the heat.
Getting there
Paphos International Airport (PFO) is about 15 minutes from Kato Paphos — short enough that even a delayed flight doesn't wreck a day with small kids. Direct flights from Tel Aviv run just over an hour.
Where to stay
A resort with its own pool in Kato Paphos removes most of the logistics — kids get a swim before and after any outing, and everything on this route is a short drive or taxi away. Look for family rooms or connecting rooms rather than assuming a standard double will work for a week.
The 5-day route
- Day 1: Settle in, pool afternoon, and an early dinner on the Kato Paphos harbor promenade — the boats alone hold attention for the first evening.
- Day 2: Paphos Zoo in the morning, before the midday heat; it's compact enough for young legs and has a good mix of animals and shaded paths.
- Day 3: The Paphos Archaeological Park, but only the mosaics closest to the entrance — treat it as a 45-minute visit, not a full morning, and leave before anyone's patience runs out.
- Day 4: Aphrodite Waterpark for a full day — slides for older kids, shallow pools for younger ones, and shade to retreat to.
- Day 5: A calm-water beach morning at Faros Beach or a hotel-adjacent bay, then pack up for an afternoon flight.
Practical notes
- Midday heat (roughly noon–3pm) is worth avoiding outdoors from June through September — plan pool or indoor time then.
- Car seats aren't guaranteed with every rental company; confirm when booking rather than assuming.
- Pharmacies are easy to find in Kato Paphos and carry familiar international brands of sunscreen and basic medicine.
